I think slapstick still has a place. Even if it doesn't, this film will be a guaranteed financial success, even if the movie gets panned.

And who goes to see a sequel to Dumb and Dumber expecting Judd Apatow comedy? This is a complete throwback to the mid-90's slapstick. Heck, there was even a transition into the Apatow-style comedy. The Farrelly's There's Something About Mary was a good indication of that - it was around that time we started to see the formation of the Frat Pack into multiple film collaborations, which has regularly been cast alongside "Team Apatow" actors in comedies spanning the 2000's, of which some consider as extensions of the Frat Pack. Ben Stiller and Matt Dillon have been part of that transition.
