I think there is a very high chance that this isn't the Muslim minority in Kenya; these are international jihadists organized by al-Shabaab. I doubt more than 1-2 of the militants are actually Kenyan. A good handful will be Somali I imagine.

Definitely sounds like al-Shabaab retaliating against Western imperialism and Kenyan forces making strides in Somalia.
