Some of these vets that could be moved out by the deadline here will have temporary trade value, Stempniak is a good example. If he is hot or at least putting up some numbers his value will temporally be higher around deadline time. Beginning of the year and into the first 20-30 games our vets have less value, as time gets short and other teams want to add a piece for this year value goes up, once the deadline passes value bottoms out again. So even though some guys have really low value now that value is tied directly in to what someone else is willing to pay at the right time. Stemp could be worth nothing for most of the year in a trade, then in the week leading up to the deadline he fetches more then he would at any other time. Provided his performance is there and he is healthy, same applies to most vets that while most the time are not considered core players their value will skyrocket briefly if the right team eyes them.
