I wonder how many times Regier wakes up screaming wishing he had let Vanek go and taken the four first round picks from the Oilers?

2008 - Tyler Myers (who Buffalo ended up getting anyway from LA, who got it from Anaheim, who got it as compensation for the Penner offer sheet); 2009 - Magnus Paajarvi-Svensson (meh, can't win 'em all); 2010 - Taylor Hall; 2011 - Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.

Yes, I realize things would have turned out differently with different rosters, and no incentive for the Oilers to be awful in 2010 and 2011, but Oilers is a Oilers does. The Leafs had no incentive to suck in 2010 and 2011 either, but they still did.
