My thoughts on Monahan, if he is "close" to NHL ready or seems to be ready, play him the 9 games, if he holds his own keep him up, if not send him down for the year. If the Flames decide to keep him up I would hope and lobby the Flames to make him available for the WJC. Canada will need help this year as many of the drafted players, I am sure, will not be made available so I think Calgary needs to let him go since we are in the beginnings of a re-build. WJC is a great experience for these guys and the chance to represent Canada sits very high on most all Canadian hockey players, no matter what age.
