I agree that Cammi likely wants to go chasing a cup contender to play for but it is possible that he is motivated by other things. Perhaps he would rather sign a big contract and stay here. Maybe he prefers the money, maybe he likes the city for raising a family.
Whatever Cammalleri's mindset may be, the Flames should be ready with a contract offer to hand him on the off chance that he decides that he wants to stay a Flame.

I doubt Stempniak or Stajan could garner a 2nd round pick in return. I do think Cammi get a 1st and the flames need an extra 1st.
I think Cammi's re-sign comments was more "lip" service than anything, so he would not to rock the boat. When the Flames are out of it by December, i have a hard time believing that he will want to stay and go through that for another year or 2.
The only thing surprising about Gio being named Captain, was that they did not make him wear the new 3rd uniform when accepting the honour.
