i'm sure the oilers had some pressure to hand out something similar to what eberle/hall got, though i'm not sure he's proven as much as they did by the time they got their deals.

i think they could have played a bit of hardball and pushed for a shorter term deal (ie. 4.5 million for 2 years or somthing) but it may have soured the kid on the organization.

at the end of the day, 6 million isn't over the top if he can get/stay healthy.

this isn't as bad as other deals they have made in the past (ie. the hemsky deal).
