In this case - between what he's made on his pro contracts and the financial support he'd get from a CIS team he'd be better off than just going straight to university after junior. (assuming of course he finished high school and can get into a university).

Its not really "nothing" if the NCAA gets the player a university degree.
It looks like both systems could be improved to give the kids a better chance at successfully transitioning out of hockey if it doesn't work out but the NCAA system definitely looks to be the better of the two in this specific case.
Hopefully Howse takes some time to himself and if he finds out that at 24 that he really wants back into hockey that he then applies himself to take that long hard road back to the big show. If not, hoepfully he finds another path, like school, to do whatever he wants as an adult.
Really, we should wish him nothing but the best. He provided us a bit of hope when there wasn't any when it came to the Flames prospects and now that we have other kids to carry that torch I say that we can let Howse off the hook.
