The only consideration (and those who know more about this please chime in) is the LTE frequencies. I know my 5 which was bought on launch day doesn't have as many LTE frequencies as if I had bought a 5 last week. So you run the risk of having a phone that has all the AT&T and T-Mobile LTE frequencies, but not Rogers/ Bell ones.
When I had a data roaming plan my phone would only show 4G, not LTE when in the States. While 4G was fine when roaming with a tiny data plan, I really like having LTE here.

I read somewhere a 16GB will be selling for $639.99 US at Walmart. $719 here. So roughly a $50-$60 difference depending on dollar. However if there's a possibility of frequency issues, which is what I was wondering about, I'll just get one here.
