Yes exactly, do I pay a premium to get an Apple product? Yes I know I do. But I also get the tangible benefit that it works well with my 4 apple TV's with AirPlay, my songs are on iTunes and synced on four devices in total with my wife. I have apps that work well with streaming music and video through my house.
Could I switch over to android and find devices and apps to do all of these, of course I could, but it's not worth the hassle to me.
