On a contract, $99 to $199 is the standard for all new phones. Quite frankly it's a piece of hardware that you are going to use everyday for years. You should not be allowing a small price difference like that to dictate your decision. SuperMatt makes a great point. If someone is willing to pay $100, they are willing to pay $200 for a better phone. After working in cell phone sales for several years, I concur. There is the $0 market share and the share that is willing to spend something on their phone.

The fact that they've not only gauged their lower end price point base but also forced them to have a phone with gaudy colours that advertise your frugalness is pretty tacky.
