You don't think Johansson is worth a 2nd rounder?

You mean like every contract? I didn't say I want the Flames to give every RFA an offer sheet, just the ones on teams that are right to the cap, will not cost any first round picks, and will likely live up to the offered contract. Like Johansson.
I'm pretty sure they would have matched any offer that was even close and then found a way to shed the salary needed to be cap compliant, they don't have to be compliant for a while anyway so I'm sure they would have found a way to keep him. I just feel offer sheets are more risk than reward. I know that every contract runs the risk of being bad but it would sting even more if you gave a guy like Johansson a big deal and he didn't live up to it because the higher the contract, the more you give up so it hurts twice as much, thats all I was saying. If there was any way to get him in a deal, I think we should have been all over it as long as we don't have to give up younger players and prospects. A deal where we could take on some of their bad contracts to give them more cap room + a good player for a decent player.

Either way, he signed with the caps so we don't need to worry about it.
