Do you know the range of each particular bear? If you don't know that then you don't know what the hell you're talking about. Provincial and state wildlife agencies spend millions to obtain this kind of information so that they can properly manage wildlife species.

Yes actually, this information is available on the BC government website. They have a track of the grizzly bear population in that province, and a breakdown of that population by region within that province. Have have no doubt they are of course using some form of extrapolation versus counting every single last bear, but I'm sure they are fairly accurate. So you can actually see how many bears there are in the entire province and a break down by region (which is why hunting rules are different by region)
