He is already in an overseer role with the Preds (Paul Fenton has more responsibility than any AGM in the NHL).
He would have been perfect for the role. And apparently the Flames offered him the job before Burke, so they think so too.

I didn't say Nill, Poile or Davidson were bad choices just that they weren't better choices.
Those are all very impressive numbers and I would have been fine with Poile coming in but I don't see anything there that shows he would be a better choice than Burke that has his own impressive accomplishments and a long history of success in the NHL, including the highest success possible.
