During the Shanahan distraction I said we should have hired Burke so I'm happy with this. What this signals is that ownership is comfortable bringing a strong headed executive in to oversee hockey ops. That's a sea change in the management style over the last 5 years.
Burke had a so so record in Toronto but he did fiercely guard his autonomy on hockey decisions to the point that it got him fired. We need that type of personality in the org what with the meddling know nothing duo of King and Edwards as the defacto managers of hockey ops currently.
