I've seen a mom with a baby in a stroller and another in one of those baby bjorn things on her chest and walking two dogs. One was a pitbull. I've seen a very slight woman with two pitbulls on leashes. I just don't see how they could possibly wade in and stop one of these dunder heads when they lose it on another dog or worse, another person.

I didn't see that it was the pitbull that started this? Nor have I seen any video of what the incident looked like.
Was the pitbull protecting or attacking?
Did the other dog start it? Which dog came to which dog, maybe the pitbull was at its owner's side the whole time.
What kind of dog and owner was the other group? Did they fail to control their dog?
Did the dog lunge at the child or did the child get its own hands in the way?
I would think if this was a pitbull with the intent to bite a child the result would be described as worse.
Sounds like arms and dogs were flailing around and a child's arm got into a mouth and when the dog realized it had a person it DID NOT bite to its potential and released. It may not even have bitten the kid and the kids arm just scraped the teeth of the dog leaving behind a red mark and a overactive parent.

I guess it depends on what you see in your head when you read it and what I see.
