I'll preface any comments by the fact that I personally don't see every player play (that's why I have a scouting staff), nor am I the scouting director in the organization (again, why I have people taking care of that for me), but something for your consideration.
In our final ranking for the 2013 NHL Draft, we had seven defensemen in the top-20, eight in the top-30 and 16 in the top-50.
In our preliminary ranking for the 2014 NHL Draft, we have four defensemen in the top-20, seven in the top-30 and 12 in the top-50.
There isn't much in the way of top-end defensemen (only two in our preliminary top-10), but there is plenty of time for depth to fill out.
We still have a season to play, after all.
