It's the same with tattoos, just a different projection. If people really didn't care, they wouldn't need to project their thoughts to others with visible tattoos. They could just live, laugh and love on the inside.

Some people care enough about what other people think to get what they want. I only care enough about what my employer thinks of my appearance and personality so as to keep getting a paycheque from them for the work I do. Don't confuse that for sincerely caring what other people or strangers think.
If some people care what strangers think of them, then that's great but that's not everyone. Do you really give a crap what random people on the street think of you?
