We all do stupid #### as kids that could kill us. I was a little pyromaniac. I tried building a fort out of logs that eventually fell in on itself... with me inside. I climbed up to the very top of a tree, up to where the branches were not strong enough to support me and I fell (fortunately landing in soft ground and grass). I was playing Superman and jumped off the roof of my house. Eleven year olds do not think things through.... they just do and find out what hurts them and what doesn't.
As for lapses in judgement, we adults still have them. I forgot my epipen last weekend and nearly died of anaphylactic shock. And I realized a half hour from home that I forgot it, but I was like "what are the odds"? Pretty good apparently.
