A new Gallup poll finds it a dead heat as well, at 49-49. The same poll last week had Bush leading 52-44, so that's an eight-point swing within a week. Of course, the two interesting things will be whether he's able to keep that lead or whether it's just a blip; and how his new support breaks down in terms of the electoral college. It's at the point now where a victory in Florida or a combination of Ohio and Iowa could be enough. On the other hand, if most of his new support is in places like California and New England, it doesn't really do him any good.
