Can you not fill up at home/rv storage place and just drive with a full fresh tank? I know it sounds like a PITA but its better than dragging a trailer around looking for a tap to fill up at. At that point atleast you know you have fresh drinkable water. Plus realisticaly you are pulling a trailer so any form of saving fuel by pulling with empty water is a joke. Years of tap searches at gas stations and random towns/sani stations have led me to doing this. Depending on where we go because most races are in the middle of nowhere and usually not held in any sort of campground (random dry camping). This is the best and easiest way next to going to a KOA with full hookups.
