well you said he'd reach #1 after winning this tournament, but not how long after. so if it happens next year then your declaration is still valid technically.
however in order to do that Andy's got to make more of a dent in the clay season. it's only 2 months long, but has a major and 3 masters in it (along with a smattering of 500 level events). that's potentially 5000-6000 points up for grabs, which is about half of what you need to be #1, compressed into a very short time frame compared to the rest of the calendar year.
those 5000+ points perennially belong to Nadal, which is why he was able to take 8 months off and not drop below 5th. I haven't watched enough of Murray on clay to know why he's not so good on it, but he should have all the raw tools to become at least as good as Djokovic on dirt.
