I think that Dark Knight rises was doomed to be a lesser movie then Dark Knight. Joker is an iconic character and Heath Ledger's portrayal of it carried that movie to the point that you can ignore that the Harvey Dent story line was really weak, and that the Rachel Dawes story line was a bit annoying.
The minute that Heath Ledger walked into the mob meeting and simply said when asked why he didn't kill the batman already "When you're good at something, never do it for free". You knew that it was going to be amazing.
Tom Hardy is a very strong actor, but the Bane character didn't seem to fit him all that well. The League of Shadows story line was a little soft and the twist where it was Tailia that climbed out of the prison wasn't a big surprise.
It just didn't have the epic villain, it was too good guy strong and even when Bruce Wayne had his back destroyed you never felt the jeopardy.
I thought the acting was strong in all three movies. But if I was going to look at it in order of favorites
Dark Knight - Heath Ledger carried this movie "Good evening ladies and gentlemen, we are tonight's entertainment" summed up the theme of the Icharacter perfectly. I thought the two face story line was weak and the ending of the character wasn't all that satisfying. I really wanted to see more of a personality split in the character as opposed to outright angry guy all the time. I thought the casting of miss massive head as Rachel Dawes was a poor choice and I cheered when she was exploded in mid sentence. This was more of a detective comic then a batman comic, and I was fine with that. Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldman were incredibly strong in this movie. 9/10
Batman begins - I've always like Liam Neeson as an actor and he was the perfect choice for his role. The origins story was very well done, but as soon as they ground up the orchid for the trial I knew that was going to come later. Christian Bale really nailed the character in this movie, I think this was his strongest portrayal. I thought Katie Holmes did a credible job as Rachel Dawes, but Freeman and Oldman carried this movie acting wise. The final fight was actually pretty satisfying. I loved the intro of the Joker in the end "He has a flair for dramatics like you" 8/10
Dark Knight rising - "I don't know, I had such huge expectations of this movie, and I loved the fact that they put the occupy movement in a silly light. I wanted to like Bane but he was really generic, he was a tough guy with quips nothing more developed then that. I thought the reactor story was hideously stupid, and the Batwing was just showing off. Oldman and Freeman and especially Michael Caine were good. I liked Anne Hathaway as Catwoman, I still think they need her to do a Catwoman origins film to wash the stank of that other Catwoman movie off. JGL did a good job. But it just seemed that everyone knew Batman's secret identity in this movie. I didn't like Bane's death at all, it seemed like it was done for a laugh. It just seemed that you could see the betrayal of Batman by Marion from a 100 miles away in a dark knight with no lights on. 6/10
