I went Ferland because he has the potential to be a decent power winger that can score. Not sure about the upside of anyone else.

He will be the #1 guy in Abbottsford and was the top (offensive) d-man on the Calder Cup winner.
He has similar (much better playoff) AHL creds as Derek Smith ( 76 games 56 pts 2010-11 in Binghamton as a 26 year old) who never played a game for the Heat.
Billins 24 years old 100 ahl games last year with Grand Rapids 51 pts.
Is the Flames defense going into 2013-14 that much better than it was going into 2011-12?
since then Flames added Russell , SOB, Wideman ... lost Sarich, Bouwmeester, Babchuck and Hannan.
