Hm, wow. Well, I tend to tip an average of 10%, and have gone as high as 15% for really good service. But more and more frequently I'm seeing folks claim "Yeah, I always tip 20% now" so I guess this really is becoming more of a thing. Doubt I'll change, though.
I've only ever not tipped once, and just about everything that went wrong at that restaurant could have. I even ended up speaking to the manager, thinking that the entire meal (a small one with my wife and I only, not a huge party) should have been comped. It wasn't, but we made our point in speaking to the manager.
