Horcoff is a heck of a lot more overpaid as a 3rd liner than Tootoo is as a 4th liner. I could just as easily reverse your statement and say Tootoo still holds value as a gritty 4th liner while Horcoff is an overpaid 3rd line C.
The Stars could easily have found someone on the UFA market, since they made the trade the day the market opened, for probably a much cheaper contract and without giving up any assets.
Heck, Wellwood is still on the market and has played enough 3C in the last couple years to make him more attractive at a 1 or 2 million dollar deal then giving up assets for an overpaid declining Horcoff.
