How come capgeek didn't remove him from their site yet? How come he hasn't been removed from the Flames lineup on the home page? BECAUSE IT ISN'T OFFICIAL YET.
I know you just want to argue, but pick your battles.

He's also an member of the Finnish hockey system and has represented his country multiple times.
Again, it's not a rumour, it's simply a fact that has not been officially announced by the Calgary Flames. A fact. As in, quoted by the player himself as true. Could he change his mind? RUMOUR is: Yeah, he could. He hasn't been quoted as saying he's thought about not retiring, it's simply hearsay from no official source (I.e. not a international hockey organization, nor an official news source). This isn't like a Selanne who has been quoted as being on the fence, this is a player quoted by a reputable source as having decided to retire. Until that players says different, he is RETIRED.
You know why it's not 'official'? Because the Flames haven't asked. Why haven't they asked? Because they know the answer, and don't want to have to announce that answer until the last possible moment.
I might enjoy the argument, but you're relying on semantics and some silly false hope that he's coming back, and you dismiss any information from reputable sources that suggest he's retiring as 'rumour'.
