What do you expect police to do? If you don't have any evidence at the scene (like whatever the thief used to break the window) and/or you don't have any suspects at the scene (You or someone else actually seeing the crime/noting suspicious people around the area) and/or you don't have any video surveillance...what do you really expect police to do? Come out and mystically divine who did it?
What you are asked to do is to report the stolen property online or using the callback system, the two fastest ways to get the info on your property into general police circulation. Neither method requires a visit from an officer.
All that information is checked when a pawn shop asks CPS about their inventory or caches of stolen goods are found or on several other occasions.
But yeah, you just keep on thinking that CPS don't care.
