This, I think, is the problem people are getting at. Some people who are nay saying the FOB song are just saying so because they don't like FOB, and their critiques aren't directly at the song itself. For instance, I can't stand Monster Truck, but I think Righteous Smoke is a fitting song, and I think it would work well as the goal song. I also dislike FOB, but I see the value in that song as the goal song. I LOVE RATM, but honestly, I don't think Sleep Now in the Fire is a great choice. The problem is that people just say "What band? Oh, no thank you" without considering the song itself. It just doesn't lend someone credibility when they write off a song based on its performer, or jump all over a song just because they like the band. We're looking at 10-20 seconds of music, lets think about those 10-20 seconds of music, not the entire discography of each and every band and how they represent us as a city. If you want to say "I hate how whiny he sounds when he says 'fire!'" then that is a logical and fair critique, but if your critique is "Fall Out Boy is for teens" then you probably could stand to educate yourself a bit.
