The Av's have signed their core for the next 3 years:

Parenteau, P-A 4M
Mackinnon 3.8M
Landeskog 5.5M
Tanquay 3.5M
Duschense 6.0M
Erik Johnson 3.75M

6 players 26.6M

They have to qualify O'Rielly at 6M (or let him become a UFA)

7 Players at 32.5M

All but Mackinnon and Tanquay on the very worst team in the league last season.

This team has a chance to follow the 2012-13 Flames as one of the few teams to spend to the cap and miss the playoffs.

Hope the Flames follow the Islanders example and only give big contracts to proven players and not take the best case scenario of the player getting better over the next 5 years.
