Default Tipping is now at about 20% for good service

Not sure if there is already a thread, but I read an article on CBC:

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgar...john-holt.html

The expert in the article says that 20% is now the standard, and nothing should be less than 15%.

I personally think it's creeping up way too high, but its one of those cultural things that would be really hard to change. I have seen acquaintances leave my industry (consulting) to go back into working at restaurants because they can make great money at a busy joint and meet new people.

If people are leaving downtown office jobs to go back to serving, I wholly imagine it is because tips are ludicrously good these days.

Or am I wrong? What does the CP world think?
