It all kind of adds up to waiting on a trade to free up room. Could be one of those "take my festering turd of a contract and I'll throw in some value" type trades finally.
Would love to see Brendan Smith here even if it means taking on Samuellson or Quincey.

That's why Holland is sitting where he is. He's trying to dump bad contracts like Tootoo on other teams and expecting a draft pick in return. He doesn't realize that there are Tootoo comparables in the market unsigned that don't cost teams a pick or that kind of salary.
Holland will have to bury players in the minors if he keeps this up and hope for cap savings that way. Granted if Detroit was my team I'd applaud him for sticking to his guns but he can't expect other GMs to take on bad deals out of the goodness of their hearts, it's a blood sport.
