You have probably already know this, but kids aren't great when it comes time to "just relax and enjoy the fresh air" kind of thing, aka sit around a crack a few beverages. The busier you can keep them, the better it is for everyone.

One good thing you can do is plan a scavenger hunt. Have items that are both naturally and non-naturally occuring. If you get really excited you an get some small prizes as well. You can pair up older with younger kids.
