There was less consensus at the top if that draft than most. Partially because two of the best prospects (Galchenyuk and Rielly) missed almost their whole draft year due to injury.

I know that TO and Calgary definitely differed - and I am sure that there are probably other teams as well.
I just remember the TSN guys and some other draft lists kept insinuating that Yak was head and shoulders above his draft class, especially after Grigorenko started falling in the last half of the season, with the only 'threat' being Galchenyuk. Most other years, they like to have a couple of prospects at least 'battling it out' and create a mystery, but that year everyone was pretty sure that Yakupov would be taken first. I might remember things a bit different though - but I definitely acknowledge that of course every team has their own lists, and Yak was most definitely not first on every team's list as has been proven twice already (and probably more).
