Funnily enough, by the end of my tenure in NY, it seemed like 75% of my friends were living in some part of Brooklyn. Basically the Manhattan holdovers had to come there if they wanted to see us.
Definitely lots of scary parts of Brooklyn left though if you go east...but those are easy enough to avoid.
