They rushed the kid, played him with nothing by grinders for three seasons when he had already demonstrated two way play and has the skill set of a top6 player, and apparently refused to let him play in the league of this choice during the lockout. What exactly did did the Jets do to earn his loyalty?
Playing professional hockey is a job. If your boss is giving you the raw end of the stick, you go somewhere where else. The Jets hold most of the blame here.
