I was dating a Serbian guy in University and I went to his house in Toronto for dinner and his mother made some stuff that was fairly disgusting, one of the things being what they called kajmak, (I think?) which was some kind of fermented milk in minced meat. Yuck.

Kajmak is awesome. It's like a butter/cream.
A lot of people have it with meat called ćevapi or ćevapčići, which can be minced pork, lamb or beef (often a mixture of all), unless you are in Bosnia where pork is used less.
Maybe you had some bad stuff here in North America.
