Why do people think middle of the row is a downside. To me its a positive. You rarely have to get up to let people by. To me not having to move for others greatly outweighs the quick escape or making others move for me.

That's great if you don't ever need to move. If you have young families where food or pee breaks will come at anytime then closer to the aisle is better for yourself and those around you.
