I'd go with the 8GB even if you plan to upgrade sooner, you will get more for your computer when you go to upgrade. Keep in mind how small the 128GB drive is because you will fill that up in no time.

Never keep all your data on 1 external HDD, if you intend to store your stuff on an external make a backup of that drive. I see too many people who use an external for storage and it dies on them and they are stuck will a 600-1600 bill to recover their data.
