I heard he was asked by management to leave Tampa, because the other players' moms just couldn't keep their hands off of him. Was too disruptive to the team.
He eventually discovered that it was just the stubble that made him irresistable to the older ladies. Now so long as he keeps himself well-groom, he can play at the NHL level without having to worry about his captain's mom 'getting a flat tire' near his house any more.
