My take, multivitamins seem to be not a good idea. Having your doctor do your blood work to see if there is something your lacking and then supplementing that is fine.
Taking mega doses of vitamin C because of the longstanding myth of it being a cure all, is a bad idea, goes for all vitamins.
I think the message is take caution when taking vitamins, most people do not need them, especially be careful with high dose, seems to be ZERO cases where this is a good idea in the research.
The only thing I've ever personally taken is fish oil pills, its this long standing Icelandic obsession with doing that. At this point I don't see much reason to do even that, I eat fish and my doctor says I have no deficiencies.
