I liked the Thrawn character, but I always through what was funny about that trilogy was that he pretty much lost every major battle in those books. The ones that were kind of hinted at were his wins.

He'd always lose and smile and say, well its all part of my bigger plan now lets look at some alien art or porn or whatever.

He'd have to be a way bigger threat in the movies to be credible.

He did found the Empire of the Hand which was a really interesting idea.
