Let's say the Leafs game is at 6pm ET, The Jets game starts at 8:30pm ET and the Canucks game starts at 11:00pm ET. There might be a bit of overlap and everyone plays at night!
Even the Leafs or Habs could start a game at 8:30pm on a Saturday night.

The 2.5 hour time slot would overlap into the next game as it normally does on TSN. Many viewers do not like missing the beginning of a game and joining it in progress. The three hour block does work and it allows for the pre-game ceremonies that happens frequently in Montreal and Toronto. The 2300h eastern start would be too late for Atlantic and Eastern timezone viewers fans to watch the start of the Canucks home games or games in the Pacific timezone.
