For a second consecutive week, Calgary Stampeders kicker Rene Paredes has been honoured by the Canadian Football League as the special teams player of the week.
Paredes was four-for-four in field-goal tries — including a season-long 41-yarder — during the Stampeders’ 38-27 win over the Montreal Alouettes at McMahon Stadium on Saturday and added a pair of converts for a total of 14 points. Including playoffs, Paredes has now been successful on 37 straight field-goal attempts — an unprecedented feat in league history — and his regular-season streak stands at 29, one shy of Paul McCallum’s CFL record.
