That would be an interesting twist, but then how could that lead into a Justice League movie? Dark Knight Returns takes place after the Justice League has been dissolved, and features older versions of Batman and Superman.
Unless it works just as a sequel to the Justice League movie, which might work, but would be a strange way of doing things.
They could still use Cavil though since Superman ages slower than the rest of us. Not sure that Amy Adams and the rest of the cast could be kept on though. So part of the story might need to be changed altogether to make it work.
