Well apparently they had fast tracked a Man of Steel sequel after opening weekend.. now not sure if they still plan to go ahead with that before the team up.. but the rumored release date was sometime in 2014.
I also agree that Marvel Studios success is because of the great RDJ. That guy is an amazing actor and although he didn't nail comic book Tony Stark, he made that Tony Stark better. Which is a very rare feat in comic book movies.
If you were to take him out of the Avengers and replace him with anyone else, they would all flop like a fish out of water. They knew this, which is why they threw the bank at him to keep him.
If you stack up any of the other Marvel Studio movies to Man of Steel I still think MoS is a much better movie.. and TDK Trilogy stomps CA, Hulk and Thor into the mud, swivels his heel a bit then spits on the imprint.
The Avengers however, is obviously untouchable. Great job, DC will more than likely not reach that level. I've seen that movie 10 times already and I never get tired of it. I can't say the same for any other movies in the comic book genre.
But I think the real movie that is going to blow people away is the new X-Men, it is going to come out of left field and redefine the way we look at comic book movies. But I would also have Fassbender's babies so I might be a little biased..
