Re: Brodeur/Kidd
How many times have the careers of Oilers prospects (and Flames to be honest) been screwed up due to a crappy developmental system/rushing them to the NHL/mistreatment of injuries? It isn't just the player that determines his success, there is a huge effect by the whole organization around him.
Had Brodeur come to the Flames and Kidd to the Devils, Kidd might be on his way to the hall of fame and Brodeur might have topped out at journeyman backup goalie. Probably not, but who knows?
I guess the point is that if the Flames drafted Brodeur, he doesn't necessarily turn out to be a sure thing Hall of Famer and the Flames' goalie for 20 years
