I think the AAV is about right for a guy with his numbers and a contract that covers UFA years.

But I think Gagner is one of those players that, while he gets his points, you can't win with. Too small for a 2nd line C - especially when your 1st line C (and most of your top 6) is also small. Not very good team construction, IMO.

As a Flames fan, I am very happy that he is signed with the Oilers for 3 more years and with a NMC (after year one).

I thin MacTavish should have traded him and this is a bad signing - unless of course they move him this year which I suppose is a possibility.
