Brodie is the only impact defender the Flames have in an age bracket that is crucial to the rebuild.
I'm not saying I want us to trade Brodie at all, BUT if he doesn't want to be here for some reason and won't sign then by trading him I think we will get a decent return. Best case scenario would be him signing a 2 year "hometown discount" deal and earning a reasonable contract after that. If Brodie comes out to day and says he doesn't like the direction of the team (not in public but just to Feaster) then I'm sure he would be traded and the return would include a similar defensman.
