You aren't serious, are you?

Iginla played in three Olympics 2002, 2006, and 2010.

2002 Captain - Mario Lemieux
Iginla was 24 at the time and just emerging as an elite talent. At the start of the season he wasn't even on the Olympic radar until an injury happened prior to camp. Though I don't think you're suggesting he should have been captain on this team.

2006 captain - Joe Sakic
Sakic is generally considered one of the greatest leaders to play the game. Iginla wore an A along side guys like Pronger and Rob Blake. Nothing to be ashamed about here.

2010 captain - Scott Niedermayer
Again, considered of the greatest leaders and players to play the game. Iginla again wore the A for Canada.

I know some people like to chastise Iginla for not going to the World Championship besides 1997... but there is no way Team Canada would have made him captain over guys like Mario Lemiuex, Joe Sakic and Scott Neidermayer because he played in a 3rd rate tournament like the World Championships. There was talk of him captaining the 2010 team but they went with Niedermayer, nothing to be upset about there.

This is silly talk man. They only name one captain, it's no shame in being an assistant in two of his three Olympic team and what you're chalking it up to is lunacy.

No. Not even close
For me, 2002 is more important then 1972, both are easily above 2010 though.

I was 20 in 2002 though and 1972 meant nothing to me besides history but I think these two are neck-and-neck. If you remember the "crisis" Canada hockey was at the time and how much pressure this team had on them, the Gretzky speech... it was a legendary games.
